After three years of epidemic, the seventh "When Koala Meets Panda" China-Australia Short Video Contest is back.
The theme for this year's contest is "Reunion," symbolising the lifting of entry restrictions between China and Australia. It embodies the anticipated cultural and economic interactions that will unfold as travellers and students from both nations reunite, sharing their personal stories of friendship and reunion through social media posts.
"Koala" signifies Australia's vibrant youth and society, whereas "Panda" embodies the essence of China. "Meet" encapsulates a personalised viewpoint, inviting participants to share narratives that reflect their own unique comprehension, encounters, or any anecdotes related to China or Australia.
The competition will serve as a platform for these young individuals to showcase the strength of friendship from their own perspectives. It aims to foster a deeper appreciation of China across various segments of Australian society. Simultaneously, it will provide valuable insights into Australian culture for Chinese, overseas Chinese, and Chinese students in Australia, motivating all to become ambassadors of friendship.
The contest commences on 1st September 2023, and contestants must upload their micro-videos to their social media platforms by 30th November 2023. Judges will select 4 individual awards, each receiving a prize of $AUD1,000 cash and certificates. There will also be the "Most Popular in China" award, which will go to the four individuals who receive the most views on Chinese social media platforms, one of whom will also receive a one-week trip to China.
